There is nothing like a wooden chopping board. We have a number of them in use at the one time and still there is never enough! The two here started out life very differently. One was made by my daughter (at 7 she wanted her own) but we recently removed a couple of pieces of the original rimu and added in the blackwood and kwila alongside. The other is a great piece of macrocarpa, live edge each side. Both are very handy and used daily!
