Discovering epoxy

Even though I have been making things for most of my life every day I learn something new about wood working. Recently I discovered working with epoxy, it's pretty cool. I talked to the guys at The Fibreglass Shop in Hamilton and they pointed me in the right direction.

My first experimentation was with the vanity top for our ensuite. I filled the cracks with blue tinted epoxy and finished it with a flood coat of envirotex. It was a little messy at first but I got the hang of working with it to get the outcome I was after. My second project using epoxy was a picture frame which produced a great effect by filling the cracks in the timber and emphasising the mitred corners. Check out the finished vanity!
